Now is the time for employees to make reservations to attend the Maryland Supplemental Retirement Plans' Personal Finance Seminars in the second half of 2011. This is a particularly relevant time for this educational opportunity given recent developments in the investment markets and the economy.

To encourage employee attendance for these events we are asking for your help. Please inform your employees about our field seminars. The sessions are considered State sponsored employee training activities and may be recognized in an individual's personnel file as part of their Individual Career Development Plan. The sessions will begin at 8:45 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. There is no charge for the seminar. For your convenience, we have attached a flyer for you to email, post and distribute in your agency. The flyer includes the dates and locations of these events, as well as registration instructions.

The Personal Finance Seminar is targeted to all State employees who want to get a better understanding of their overall financial health and how to improve it. This seminar includes discussion of the Maryland State pension plan, Maryland Supplemental Retirement Plans, financial planning, basic investing and debt management education.

Employees should register for the Personal Finance Seminar directly with MSRP by sending an email with their information to the address on the flyer.

Please encourage employees to attend, and thanks for your interest in MSRP!

Employees within 8 years of retirement should not rely on the Personal Finance Seminar to give them all the information they deserve. Those employees should consider attending a Pre-Retirement Seminar offered by the State Retirement Agency ( www.SRA.state.md.us ) to address their specific needs.
